New-School Knowledge Transfer

Here we are, starting off a new year with limitless information at our fingertips. With technology evolving faster than we could have ever imagined a few decades ago, things that used to take hours now take mere minutes. For example, encyclopedia research has given way to search engines, pagers to SMS and faxes to emails. But there is one specific innovation that truly has changed everything, and it celebrates its tenth birthday next month. We should really take a minute to appreciate YouTube. With DNN tutorials becoming increasingly more available, our industry will never be the same.

With a few clicks, we can access countless videos. Not only is it a convenient way to watch funny videos of hamsters eating burritos, or listen to songs on repeat—YouTube is a powerful educational tool. Without leaving my desk I can learn how to change a tire, how to brew the perfect cup of coffee or how to build a website. Yeah, you read that right. The possibilities are endless.

While YouTube is a fairly new tool in the Internet's tool shed, that's no reason not to take full advantage of this modern marvel. Several vendors on the DNN store are already using YouTube as a way of transferring knowledge to long-time customers and DNN novices alike.

Here at Smith Consulting, we recently gave our YouTube channel a makeover, and we are really excited about it. We have new, up-to-date video tutorials covering several aspects of our module from basic setups to complex configurations. And if you haven't used SmithCart yet, you can get a good idea of the ins and outs of the module. (We also offer a free trial, more on that here). You can view our full channel at the link below. Show some love by subscribing. If we haven't covered a topic you'd like to see, let us know. More videos are on their way!
