Before you look at any other modules you need to understand how to use XMOD. It is a foundational DNN module. You will waste a lot of time and money on other solutions without this product.

I purchased XMP several years ago and never got the chance to use it. After a recent conversation with DNNDEV I decided to give it a try. I've spent the last several months chastising myself for not taking advantage of it sooner. I can practically build anything with this technology. Their support is friendly and personable. I've hired their team for custom development as well. There's no doubt that I'll save a ton of money in the future. A fantastically powerful module for developing DNN modules and functionality.
There is a bit of a learning curve, but the team at DNNDev.com are very supportinve and the XMod Pro community is extremely helpful.
This module enables me to develop different modules easily and integrates well with the DNN (and other) databases.
From custom Contact forms, data input, searching for data and drilling down into the results etc.
A real time-saver and something that I would highly recommend.

The XMod stuff is really for programmers. To their credit the guys who produce this stuff have tried to put across that it's not for the novice. On the other hand it's being sold to novices left and right.

If you are considering buying Xmod Pro and you are wondering whether or not you will get a return on your investment then consider this. How long would it take you to build a dnn module with an add/edit form and a report to display the data entered in that form? And how much would that cost? I have found that I can build applications in a couple of days that would take weeks to do in code. We are using Xmod Pro as a RAD tool for all sorts of applications. Data capture, lists, contact forms, reports from remote database, google maps integration can all be done with Xmod Pro. And it most cases when you need something that can't be done out of the box you can use jQuery to do practically anything.
Just recently I built a prototype app that I expected would later be built as a module based on the prototype. However, the prototype did the job so well there was no need to replicate it in code.

I really like XMod Pro.
It's an easy way to access your database tables using MSSQL statements or procedures. You use display templates to select a record row or rows to view from your tables, and forms to insert or update field columns in a record row. Plus, use Html, Css and Javascript to display them any way you like.
In Version 2.7 you can create tables right in XMod Pro and add them to your DNN Database. I like to give all my tables a prefix to find them easily. Then with a few clicks, create forms to add or edit record rows, including optional validation.
This is a terrific tool to add to your DNN arsenal if you use, or would like to use, a database. As with all new programs, there is a learning curve, but the manual has a lot of useful examples and the online support is great - I've usually had a response within a day or so, sometimes even minutes.

I purchased xModPro 2.0 over a year ago and have been working with it ever since. Now I've upgraded to 3.0 and what was already a great product is now even moreso. It is a must have for any DNN user.
Those without any programming knowledge can use the product out of the box, follow the wizards and have a working form in minutes.
For those developers like me who need to create more custom solutions and want to harness the power and flexibility of DNN, but don't want to create a custom module, XMOD Pro is the answer. The more I use this product, the more I find that it can do. Need to create database tables? No problem. Want to integrate custom forms into an existing database and use stored procedures? XMOD Pro can do that. You can use the form generator or design your own HTML forms.

Hey Larry G., do not give a negative rating on an awesome product like Xmod Pro just because you buy the wrong version. This is not the developers fault. Xmod Pro is one of the greatest tools for DotNetNuke out there. At least you should give the Developer a chance to reply to your support questions before you start posting bad things. These Stars are crucial to Snowcovered Sellers. Basically you reduce their income by making rushed comments here. The Support for Xmod Pro has been outstanding throughout the whole time I have been using it. So all thumbs up! Buy this product if you are serious about your DNN website.

While it takes a bit of getting used to the exact formats,etc. XMOD has been exactly what the doctor ordered when it comes to building forms for DNN.
We looked at (and even purchased) the competitors and they all had some serious limitations that XMOD just doesn't have.
The best thing about XMOD has been the outstanding support Kelly and his crew have provided. When we got stumped on something they've quickly come to the rescue and have even at times logged into our site to help us through an issue and done a bit of quick code checking/debugging to get us on the right path.

I just upgraded my module to version 3.0.4 for FREE. I am very impressed with the improvements in just the last couple months. The user interface on the latest version is very intuitive. The new module has managed to shave hours of development time off my latest project.

FANTASTIC - Don’t bother looking at any of the other Forms systems (I have tried and rejected a number of them due to various constraints and limitations) – XMod Pro is brilliant!
XMod Pro works directly with any of the tables and views in DNN – or any other tables and views in your database – and it can even create basic tables itself.
The learning curve is quite gentle – you can start creating fully functional forms almost immediately and as you become more familiar with the system, you will find you can do more and more - XMod Pro is VERY powerful.
There is an excellent Help text/User Guide and an active open Forum. There are lots of useful tips on the Forum but if you can’t find an answer to a problem, post a question and you will get a (usually very fast) response either from Kelly himself or another user. Kelly answered my last question in 12 minutes!

For starters, you think you're buying ver. 3.0, but what you get is ver. 2.5. Then I couldn't get it to activate, kept throwing errors. Tried the manual activation, but the web page itself threw an error and wouldn't activate. Useless if you can't activate. I've asked for my money back.

The link to the newer version is in bright yellow at the top of the product page. The customer posted this review before I had even had a chance to respond to his help desk ticket. I responded to that ticket within only a couple of hours after his purchase. I explained because we offer 1 year of free major and minor upgrades, the actual version purchased doesn't matter. The customer is entitled to get version 3 for free. I worked with this customer to download and activate the latest version from our site. He is not asking for a refund and said he would remove this review but didn't know how to do so.
I have to admit, the more I work with xModPro the more I like it. It truly is a great addition to DNN!!

I'm very pleased with the latest version of this module. This is my go-to application for building advanced custom forms. I really like how fast it is to setup new db tables and back-end UIs for my custom forms. This module is a major time saver. The documentation for this module is complete and there are plenty of examples on their website to get you started. The user interface has dramatically improved from previous versions.

X-Mod Pro for databases is Powerful.. Fact.. every time I think "How will I do that", I just read the manual and a ready made solution usually exists. Also you must learn how to use XMod, XMod scripting is not that intuitive and has an initial learning curve but once mastered it has a superb and simple flow to it which allows you to build just about anything..A product worthy of full ratings.

Excellent product! The 2.5 release just came out and I upgraded right away. I love the new SlideShow feature. It lets me very easily add a slideshow with very little effort.
I have been able to whip out a couple of data-driven websites with this as my data handler, and I'm positive that it's shaved hours off my development time (I used to do it the hard way years ago, so believe me on this)

A terrific product! There is a slight slight learning curve for amateurs that Kelly Ford's personal and community support systems virtually eliminate. Lot's of user submitted as well as demo application feature examples helped me to learn and more importantly produce results quickly.
For the amateur it's a next stepDNN module develoment tool. For the professional it's a must have tool that allows rapid application design with a full feature set of options.
Judging by the frequent feature/version updates it is apparent that Kelly Ford is committed to enhancing this product up to and beyond your expectations.

While XMOD is a very good tool, it lacks support and people that can help you with specific requirements. I've been using XMOD since one of the earliest versions. It is very stable and reliable. It's great, but people need some help.

It takes a lot to get me to write a review but this product did it. It is so powerful and flexible it's just amazing. There are just so many places where you need a list or a table and this module makes it so easy to build the input form and the display. I got a little fancier and built a product catalog with uploadable PDFs and images. I could format the display of the catalog to conditionally show images if they were there and wrap a link around them. Really cool. Highly recommended.

If you create applications with tables beyond those in the core DNN framework, you need this module. It will save you dozens of hours of low-level coding, which just is not necessary when using XMod Pro 2. This is a well-designed module, and if much more of a development tool than a simple grid module. Support for stored procedures with DNN tokens as parameters allows development of secure applications rapidly. Two thumbs up AND 5 stars.

I have used Xmod since version 1. It has saved us thousands of dollars in application design costs and still continues to do so due to the fact that XMod and XMod Pro can both reside on the same DNN installation. I have now been working with XMP for six months and I have to admit that it is nothing short of fantastic. What a concept - creating world class applications that integrate with any database tables in your DNN installation without the need for compiling dll files. Customizations of our applications are a breeze and if you have knowledge of working with SQL databases there is no limit to what you can create with XMod Pro. XMOD 1.5 and after it 2.0 (I brought 1.5 the day before 2.0 was released) is a great piece of software, it really helps a lot creating custom views and forms. I was working with a competing product for a month and a half and couldn't do what I did in a couple of hours working with XMod Pro!!

Xmod Pro 2.0 has some really nice new features. The new admin interface and jquery ThemeRoller themes make building forms/apps much faster. DNNDEV is a very active developer - you can count on new releases with new features. Great support, documentation, and knowledgebase. Very active forum community. Several add-on developers adding new features too. Developer listens to the needs of clients.

I am fairly new to the DNN scene. I have been working to get a solution together for my client. They wanted an easy way to access their data. I tried a few different modules like some of the "grid" modules or dynamo forms apps but nothing really did the trick. Very tough to set up and not very flexible. Then I heard about Xmod on Twitter. Holy cow! Super easy and way more friendly then most. The wizard to pick a table in your database and create a template and form based on it was CAKE! I think the customer will be very pleased and I know that I can use this for many different projects. DNNDev... You ROCK! A in my mind.

I have to say, I am impressed. I mean I have been working with XMod since v1. So I can easily say that I was concerned over moving to a whole NEW version. But WOW! This is exactly what all of my customers really wanted. Something that can connect to existing tables in SQL, a wizard to create base forms, quick and easy modifications to templates and forms, and best of all the ability to store data in my own SQL tables. Version 2 of XMP is even better. Much easier to work with than ever before. This is great. All of my customers are already happy with what they have seen. This is a true HOMERUN for DnnDev!

I have been a user of XMod for almost 5 years. Even though I had to learn new techniques, I have to say that DNNDev hit the nail on the head! People wanted data in their own SQL tables and not in XML. DNNDev answered the call. More dynamic templates and AJAX to reduce load times and refreshes? You got it. This might be a 1.x release, but I can see the potential here is great. This will be my tool for all of my sites going forward. I have already launched 12 different sites using XMod Pro and do not plan on looking back.
I have also had the privledge of testing and implementing v2.0 which is going to be released in the nect week or two, and I have to say that it just gets better. A lot more UI and tools to make your life easier. I would tell you more, but why ruin the surprise. It's worth it.
I look forward to many great things coming out of DNNDev in the future.

I am very pleased with the improvements that have been made to this software over the years. This latest release is by far the most intuitive design so far. In past versions I found myself constantly looking back at the owners manual to figure out what attributes could be set for what controls. This software has always been feature rich, but always had underdeveloped documentation. If you have used previous versions of this software (ie. Xmod 5) now would be a good time to try something new. The software provides a trouble free installation and has a well developed help menu within the software. I still would not recommend this to anyone without advance skills in web development as the owners manual only provides very basic examples. If you are looking for a forms module, this is probably not for you. If you are looking for a development tool to create great looking advanced custom applications in a fraction of the time, this is perfect.

We've added a large number of improvements including form and display building tools that make it much easier to get started. For instance, now you can select a table in your database and, with the click of a button, have a fully-functional form or template automatically generated for you. Additionally, we've added themes and dynamic live previews that make styling your forms a matter of a couple of clicks (check out the demo on the XMod Pro 2.0 product page).
This is a great product to help you build custom modules. There is a learning curve but it is worth it, new features are added often. Support is responsive and works with you through bugs to find patches quickly. Kelly is a name you can trust.

Very powerful, feature rich module. Definitely not for beginners. This module will allow you to build just about any kind of DNN application in a fraction of the time. The user manual is 400 pages, but could stand to have greater detail. This is not the type of module you'll know how to use without reading the documentation. Even then, you'll still have some questions. I would definitely like to see this module with better documentation.

I would recommend this module to anyone with a DNN site. It took me a little while to figure out how to use it but that was time well spent.
Support is very quick and effective. I opened a support ticket on a Sunday morning and received an email from a real human being within an hour or so. My problem was solved by the early afternoon. I didn't expect to hear anything at all until at least Monday or Tuesday. I highly recommend DNNDev support and the XMod module.

Terrific support. I was able to build a custom course registration process/forms for my client using this module (and the requirements were moderately complex). I don't know how I would have done it with other modules or technologies given the time crunch I was under - and that's also money in my pocket. I keep coming back to XMod as my "go-to" module.

Fantastic Product. I was able to create my database in a few days complete with all the fields and display features. It's a time saver and powerfull, but the learning curve threw me a little bit. I'm a seasoned developer, but waded through a lot of technical documentation in order to simply figure out what the product is and what it is supposed to do. Once you get it though....look out!

I Just bought my second copy of Testify. This is NOT however because I was really satisfied with it. Yes, it does the job - no question there. Unfortunately, it stopped working on a site that we upgraded the version of DNN on.
The reason? It ran out of activations. On a site where it was already installed.
We have been unable to get a response from DNNDev (we've tried three different avenues) - and we owe it to the customer to get it working.
So I'm buying the same stupid module again. I hope they give me an activation when I re-buy this.

XMod is a powerful tool for creating quickly simple form based work flows. We use it as a mock up engine to test general work flow. This works very well on site with low to medium traffic.

NOT FOR BEGINNERS! Very powerful module. Clean install. The module documention is 400 pages and only covers the basics. Do not purchase this module unless you have a lot of time on your hands to learn how it works. I did not find the module very intuitive.

It's a great product. If you have a slight knowledge of programming, it's VERY easy to figure out.
If you consider yourself "a non-programmer" & the programming lines give you major dizziness, you might encounter big challenge but you'll figure it out eventually. No pain No gain :P

As with all previous versions of XMOD, this module is amazing and just keeps getting better. Support and documentation is phenominal. Suitable for ALL DotNetNuke data form applications. I have been stuck a couple of times with logistical issues however the support forum and Kelly's (XMOD Developer) responses are quick and complete. This module deserves the highest possible rating.

Good product with good support and an active community. I would give a 4.5 if I could. I hold back the 5 because I had to do a little more coding(html) and RTFM'ing than I expected.

Wow! I've been working with different 3rd party form modules for about two months and nothing was working as it should. I just purchased the XMOD module and within an hour I had what I needed.
It takes some time to learn some of the functionality, but not because the module is confusing, but because there is so much functionality.
The user manual is over 400 pages. This tells me that there is a lot of time and committment to this product. Other user manuals for other forms modules are 10 pages, and you end up spending days in the support forums trying to get answers.
Kudos to this product. I have to say hands down it is one of the best values!

This is the most powerful module you can get for DNN. It allows you to create full applications within DNN without having to write your own custom modules. And Tech Support is awesome, has worked directly with us on a number of problems and has always been able to resolve our issues. Highly recommended.

Practical for quick and dirty functionality. We use it more for stop gap while we will build our own custom modules.
Main draw back is that it relies on post back which is a big no, no for SEO.
It would be nice to have a review extension for XMod. The one proposed on the site is not supported anymore...

I purchased on a Friday afternoon, installed on Saturday, received prompt / knowledgeable tech support and by Sunday afternoon completed a fully functional application for my client. I had no problems importing legacy records using the well written help document as a guide. Presenting the data was a piece of cake with this intuitive module. I even added a scrolling randomized listing on the home page. I have not owned any previous versions of this product so have no basis for comparison but in my opinion this product sets the standard.

Probably a good product - but I'll never know - it's waaaayyy to complicated. The documentation, all 400 pages of it, is written in some version of English that has just enough slight errors that it is too hard to follow.

This module will greatly increase your productivity.
If you're looking for a module to manage items (such as news, catalogue items, articles, people,...) where you can 'create', 'edit', 'view as list' and 'view details" of each item, then this is definitely the module to go for.
Highlights: uses ajax, allows filtering of items, search, approval, ...
No business logic is allowed (such as code-behind-like programming) but for most simple modules, non is needed.

I have installed and used XMod but found it rather difficult and cumbersome to use. Not sure if it is because I am a .NET developer and am used to traditional programming. Although there are some extensibility features with using ASCX, if you are doing this I didn't really see the benefit of using XMOD. I am guessing this product works best if you are not a developer but if you are, it will take sometime getting used to how they use the interface.

The best module I have ever played with, gives total control of the dnn, it has it all, learning curve is minimal and effects are totally unbelievable.
I have create real estate website with nice listings in very little time.
Once you start playing with this module you just can’t stop, technical support is top notch, use forums on dnndev.com for any questions and Kelly will answer all your questions. Very well documented module.

Great Module. The templates and form engines make short work of whatever task you've got in front of you. Kelly offers great support, and the help file is second to none. Even if your just a hobbyist, you will be able to build professional level "custom" modules easily. If you're a .Net programmer XMod takes care of the overhead functions and let's you quickly build your compiled logic.

Awesome support. Very quick to answer questions. Kelly has been able to answer my questions when I ask. I am impressed with the product as well. If you know any programming at all, it is trivial to use this. Even my friend was able to do a simple database with this. Thumbs up! The product seems to be kept up to date and enhanced based on the last 8 months that I have had it. It is a great tool to put something together without any programming.

Great module, my intranet users get a real kick out of these effects. Changing images is really simple, you can have anything float up, down or across your page. Just make sure you don't have any other java scripts running on the same page. They will prevent some of the effects from working properly.

I have never given a favorable rating for purchased module, until now. I've been waiting for something to actually impress me enough to warrant a favorable review. XMod 4.5 has done so, and so I am contributing my own review.
There is no doubt that XMod 4.5 is perhaps the most useful module I've purchased in the DNN universe, because it lets me confugure a solution my way. It's flexible and intuitive, and performing exactly as advertised. The documentation is is clear and comprehensive, which says a lot when so many modules for sale lack decent documentation or lack it altogether. But far more impressive has been Kelly's responsiveness to my questions. Unlike most other module developers, Kelly has gotten back to me promptly, and stayed with me until my question was handled fully. So, I'm giving XMod the highest rating, and to date this is the only module that has received it.

Ive been using this mod for about 3 months now and think its a really good mod. it does cut down on a lot of code writing if you arent too familiar with writing code, but at the same time it has enough options and its own code or api to get somewhat in depth with what you can do with the mod. great mod

When i first saw the tagline "It Can't Do Everything... But You May Never Notice" I thought it was more sales pitch than anything else. After using it for a couple of versions now, I know it isn't.
Its not a beginners module but you don't have to be a coder either. Spend a bit of time using it and you will see more and more uses for it. If you get stuck, visit the forums at dnn.dev an answer will be forthcoming.
The developer is also quick to respond, which is a BIG bonus.

This is the first module I would buy if starting from scratch with DNN. With very little coding knowledge, and limited only to HTML I was able to put this module into use in several areas of our website. Tech support and the user's community are the best I've seen. Truley in line with the DNN spirit. The low price makes this a no-brainer to purchase.

Okay, listen, you don't want to use any version of XMod (and I've used several) if you've been drinking. It is not simple, it is complex. It's not complex in terms of "the documentation is so obfuse I can't even find the directory" it is just feature-rich. It is built for the person that knows what they want and may not be the perfect thing for a newer person that just wants to send an email. It works as advertised all of the time.

This is a great calendar module it did exactly what I needed it to do and more, my customer was very impressed with the calendar I provided. It is very flexible. If you are looking for a calendar for dotnetnuke it is defiantly worth the money to get the XMod package. The support was fantastic and was very helpful even with a beginner to XMod. I look forward to learning XMod and using its power.

I have used Xmod for more than a year now and have never stopped finding new uses for it in my website. The new version 4.0 has so many cool new features that I believe this is the best DNN module availible at Snowcovered. Without it you are missing out!

A Wow! Module. Very easy to understand, very easy to create forms and views. Perfect user interface in v4 and full off features where most demanding pros will be satisfied. You can do a lot of your job in no time which will reduce the costs. A life saver module. I strongly recommend it.

XMod has become a true "Users" module. Almost every enhancement request has been integrated into XMod4. This has become a "very" powerful tool for creating dynamic content. The "Forums" community at dnndev.com is one of the busiest and a great source for ideas and help. I have created whole sites around this module and can't say enough about it. It's definitely a must have!

Excellent product and even better support! I was able to start developing custom forms as soon as the module was installed. Very intuitive and ultimate flexibility. I had a small issue with a feature and I received a new PA within the next day which solved my problem. MUST HAVE for all hardcore DNN developers!

Genius! This product has saved DAYS of development time for a very large custom application we are finishing up right now. Xmod and all of the Add-Ons for it are the best thing to happen to DotNetNuke since the Text/HTML module! I recommend this product to everybody. If it would only do what it advertises. It's data structure allows you to build many little applications, but the structure severly limits you in what you can do beyond that. Many people have had to "hack" this program to get it to fit thier needs.
One good example is the advertised feature of filtering records via url parameter. What the developer doesn't tell you is that it filters using a LIKE clause, so your records returned may not be accurate or include unwanted records.
Buyer beware.

This is a superb piece of work. It provides great flexibility and control. That does not come without a price, of course. XMod has a steeper learning curve than most of the modules on snow-covered, but it is well worth the effort - and the personalized support that I experienced cannot be beat.
If you only buy one module in the next six months, this is the one to buy.

If I had only gotten XMod sooner I could have saved lots of time and some $ that I spent on other modules. This is a great way of doing custom development in DNN, without building a lot of individual modules. I have only had it 1 day and it is working great. The possibilities seem endless. Thanks so much!

This is an amazing module. With XMod, we cut the development time for on custom DNN module from 20-60 hours to 8-10 hours (this would have probably been even less in the hands of a developer with more current skills). As an added benefit, the module we created also has a clear upgrade path to DNN 3.0 without us having to rework a custom module we developed. In this case XMod saved our relationship with our client and paid for itself many times over. I can’t say thank you enough for this excellent product!

Hmmm ... it is a very useful module. What they leave out, however, is that you can't seem to have mini-apps that allow for one entry per user - no survey, user input, etc. If you have lists of information, the input and display for those lists are handled well. There's quite a big learning curve also, hence all the sample templates, etc. It's a good product, but go and read the forums carefully, because there's a fair amount of hype also.

Brilliant little program. The most useful module i have purchased so far. I built an inventory tracking program and a project management program the first day. I am not a programmer. I knew nothing of forms when i started, but i did know some html. It saves a lot of time and is pretty flexible. You still need to have a basic understanding of code. but you can learn as you go, like i did. Support is decent.
