This is an excellent and full-featured DNN store module, but be warned: the documentation is hard to follow and that will cost you many hours of frustration. In my case, I've been using it for years and have learned it's ins and outs with a great deal of patience. Unless you are prepared to put in the hours and hours it takes to set this up, you might consider another strore solution.

fantastic product for hire or rental goods. I have used this every year for 3 years now and annually research other cms systems and reservation products to see if anything can compete. Nothing else even comes close in regard to functionality and price. Would be 5 starts but one thing it needs is a code review and database redesign at some point to address database referential integrity more closely as you sometimes need to do SQL string manipulation on database fields to join tables.

This is all out the most feature rich DNN module in the DotNetNuke Store. This module is appropriate for enterprise grade eCommerce sites. The UI for this application out of the box is UGLY and requires a great deal of work to produce a good looking site. If you are willing to invest the design time, this module will give you the same level of functionality a multi-million dollar site like Amazon.com has to offer, at a fraction of the price. I have worked with the developer of this module on several projects adding brand new features to the software and have been very pleased with the results. The documentation for this module can get you up and running but only covers the basics. It could stand to have more advanced examples. The source code for this module is adequately commented, and very rarely contains errors upon new releases (unlike most other large modules in the DNN store) This module is only appropriate for very advanced DNN users.

Packed full of features that will only work with a full blown Credit Card Processing Service. PayPal will not work with many of the features. The stores you supply to your customers are not stand alone so you have to be involved in the day to day operation. There are much easier solution out there. Was easy to install and the developer was pleasant. But this software was not suited for my goals. Many developers in one module I think is not a great idea either. Could be long term issues when upgrading.

Ok. The store has a lot of good features, BUT dont be fulled by samples they show, reality is what you see is not what you get. Making store look how you want it is almost immposible without tweaking source code and hiring a dev. All elements and layouts of the pages are done with tabels, most of which are hardcoded (styles hardcoded too) into components. Tweaking CSS or so called "Edit skin feature" will not do much good, and you'll spend numerous hours skratching your head trying to figure out what is what. After reviewing support forum they have, I saw that no one has a solution for CSS based layouts, and Catalook is not providing any solutions either only offering to purchase additional skins at a price. Ok enough about skins. Next, admin or user UX is CATASTROPHIC. Recompiling kernel on *nix mashine is user friendlier than CataLook store.

On the other side of the fence though it's seems to be the most versatile option on the market. In short it's an old sunbaked '57 Chevy with 100,000 miles on it in SEVERE need of an overhaul to make it into a preciseless addition to your DNN toolset.

I opted for ASPDotNetStoreFront as part of a PowerDNN hosting package, however, after a week of struggles I couldn't even get a working copy of ASPDNSF. It just blew my DNN instance every time I tried to run the admin.
PowerDNN had not tested what they were selling. It was a nightmare. After a week I still had no store software to work with.
I was informed later that the problem was fixed in the new version even though ASPDNSF refused to admit there was actually a bug.
So, in desperation, I turned to Catalook. And firstly, it worked! And secondly it worked really well!
The only real problem I have had is that I still can't get the AJAX functionality to work. There is something about the PowerDNN setup. Perhaps the latest web server version. But Catalook support could not find the answer and could not replicate it. So, I still have to put up with page refreshes for each dropdown which is a pain.

You would need an URL provider to include the product name, category name etc. with the URL. There are different URL providers available for that e.g.:
DNNMasters SEO URL Provider / DNNMasters CATALooK SEOUP Plugin
DNNMasters SEO SiteMap

Less than stellar delivery system. Does not use normally accepted Snowcovered method of purchase and download. Requires company email you link, with invoice id for login, request password.
Module is good for the price. ASP.NET Storefront is better but you also pay the price for it. If you need a store and cannot afford ASP.NET Storefront, by all means this is a great choice.

The size of the CATALooK.netStore package is about 25-40MB. This is different to the most other DNN modules that have less than 1MB. Also there are different packages for different DNN versions. We can not upload 1GB here. Therefore an email with the login information for our download page and the license key will be sent out automatically immediately after a purchase. You don't have to request any passwords or something if you provide a valid email address for your account here. If you don't get an email with this information, you can send us a request via helpdesk. But also check the helpdesk manually in case your email address doesn't work like the address from this customer who has posted this review. Another advantage of this system is that if you have purchased more than one license, you have a different login for the orders and you can manage each separately e.g. check the free update service expiry date, order Source Code Upgrades or Upgrade Service Subscription Extensions etc.

After a LOT of looking and evaluation (over about 2 months) we short listed two products for our e-commerce site. Of those two, Catalook was the more sophisticated, therefore complex to setup, but in the end the extra features paid off handsomely. The new shopping site surpasses our expectations - we even calculate complex Australia Post rates automatically! Total time to get the shop up and running was 56 manhours, including manually entering over 100 products (we've got that automated now.) Customer support was first-class when called up. Skinning and email templates were not difficult, but the again, we didn't do too much customization from the standard. All in all, money well spent.

"Unrealized Potential"
This module is really full featured and inexpensive. However its strength is its downfall. Its interface is very "geeky", configuration is very involving, so much so that we have decided to not go live on the production system.
This product is a consulting opportunity for a company that will be willing to learn it inside out and to leverage its full potential.
I will give it another look in a few month...

This store is the clear choice for a DNN Storefront. It is easy enough to use for a simple store but also and has all the functionality you might need for a complex one. I originally created a store using Portal Store and switched to Catalook at the last minute. It took me about 1/3 the amount of time to learn how to install and skin this store. As a designer I found it very easy to modify and customize the skins teh way I needed. For my client the back-end is appealing and easy for them to update products and receive complex reports on sales/profits , orders and customer information. It also comes with a well written in-depth manual, which is rare on DNN.
Their tech support is fast and responsive, but the best part is I barely needed them. There are also TWO separate support Forums with a great community of users to back up this product.
I wish I bought this product first, it will now be my go to storefront software package on DNN.

This is by far the most flexible e-Commerce package I've ever used out of the box. They also offer the source code at a very low price. CATALook's functionality in conjunction with DNN's awsome content management I look back at the other solutions I've tried and I laugh at them... I have to say that Catalook has improved much over the past year when I first purchased it. There's still some things that would make it much more user friendly but even still it is a lot of bang for the buck. Even some of the other packages out there that cost more don't give you some of the options Catalook has. If you are a programmer you'll want the source to implement your own AJAX and UI improvements, especially for the back end, which takes a while to learn for more complex stores due to a bit of disorganization. Overall though it's a good buy.

First of all I would like to thank the tech support for their outstanding and fast support.
I spend more time that I expected on this module in terms of time understanding its complexity and also training my client to do some minor frequent updates.
I would say it has powerful feature but lack the user friendly back end. I would recommend putting more effort in making it more user friendly and more WEB 2.0 oriented. More over, by all mean I suggest a more appealing and flexible store layout. The blue skin could look better actually. It would great to see a new version of the manual too. Over all, for its price, good module.

Great Product but poor demo, however, check the site of one of my client http://www.panto.com.au/ so you can be assured that this product is the best of the range. Source code is a good buy and handy to add/customize some nifty features.

I can only give it 4 stars, because this shopping cart is very hard to set-up and teach my clients how to use. Even simple things like order processing requires me to create a 2 page tutorial with screenshots for sales staff. It's inflexible at times, and the admin interface is horrible for clients to use. The user interface for the customers IS highly flexible though, which means you can usually design this cart to do what you need. Support is very helpful, although I'm a little disappointed they won't add the improvements I request and seem reluctant when I offer to pay them to add the improvements to future releases. I do get very good responses from support, and they never fail to at least give me a solution to every question I have, even if it ends up being an elaborate work-around. lol! And, like I said, it's the best cart out there for DNN. It's better than PortalStore. I would easily pay $1000 for this shopping cart, but it's a lot less. I hope to see more carts for DNN out there to choose from.

Setup was easy. Upload the PAs and build your store using the Wizard. From what I have seen thus far, the system can be adapted to suite almost any busines model. I'm very impressed with the support. Responses were timely and accurate. I'm hoping to see the seller's Knowledge Base and Forum grow. That would help. Good work and keep it up.

I was able to get it up and running in about 4 hours. It's great and very flexible. The most important part is the installation and placement of the modules. If you get that right then everything else should fall into place.
It features Order Details (multiple products per order) report and Inventory controlafter a purchase. This something the built in Store Module DNN 4.3.x did not have. I think Store Module DNN 4.3 was half baked.
I use Catalook with PayPal only since it seemed the easiest to setup. The buyer doesn't actually need PayPal account but can just use any major credit card at PayPal upon checking out.
The documentation is about 300 pages. I read the installation part and did a search for the rest my questions. It's a very long read and quite overwhelming at times but very thorough and worth it.
You probably heard the great tech support and I find that to be very true. They were able to resolve every issue I had including email problems and skinning.
Great great buy.

This time, I treed the Catalook.net store and found that there was a specific feature that I needed. I sent an email to Susanne - the company owner - and they worked out a VERY reasonable price for the customization.
She gave me a deadline that fell on a Sunday - and they met it anyways. The work was professional, and so was the support.

This product has a lot of bang for the buck. I would call that my whole review in a nutshell. If you are reading this review you have probably already read some of the other reviews that talk about how good the support is. I agree that the support is good, but one should ask one's self why it is constantly commented on.
I believe it is constantly commented on because you cannot run this store without support. The store is feature-rich, but the individual who created the documentation is not a person whose primary purpose in life is creating documentation. When I read that the doc was somewhat obscure and hard to follow I did not realize that the doc was also 250 pages long.
Not only does the documenter take a lot for granted about my understanding of their proprietary methods, but there is little in the manual that fits with my idea of organized content.
The pity of the thing is that once one does understand what is required the code works well and has many features. I would say if you have more time than money and can work through the issues with the programmer, you will get a lot for a relatively small amount of money. However, one cannot understate how impenetrable and un-indexed the supporting documentation is.
One gentleman reviewing this product said he was able to implement and understand this product in one day. I remove my hat to that good gentleman for he is quite astute.
If you know a good bit about computers and files, etc then you will be able to ask the questions that will get you into a pretty cool portal store then give this one a try. If you are looking to get running today without any problems then you may choose to keep shopping.

The system seems robust and capable of doing what I need: register visitors to the DNN3 site folllowing payment by credit card. HOWEVER, I consider that the user's manual is a critical part of an application. The manual is very confusing, as though it were cobbled together over time. The poor manual caused me endless hours of unnecessary struggle as I attempted to get the software installed and configured -- time that I just did not have to lose. I very much recommend to the author, who is obviously producing an excellent application, to get some help with the manual or stop other work to rewrite the manual from the ground up. If the manual were better, I'd give this application the highest rating.

Best of all, support from the author is practically unparalleled, even by major commercial publishers. This is a package that does what it claims, out of the box, and has fast, accurate support in the few instances when problems occur. Functionality rivals more mature commercial products, including complex rental capabilities, built-in affiliate program capabilities, support for external vendors and drop-shipping, and more.
