I mainly use the UMG module for my photo gallery on my site. The product is OK but the support is lacking. The response time is usually pretty good but several times I was questioned as to why I wanted to do X when I posted a support question about it. I can do without that, Pengsten. If I post a question, just answer it--don't waste time by replying and asking why I would want to do that. Further, in my experience, most of the time when I've asked for help with an issue, such as how to do something very specific, the typical response consists of describing the closest existing option or feature and asking "does it work for you" or something similar. So then you have to respond explaining, again, that you've already seen and tried the options and you want/need to do something different. At that point, it has been very common for me to get a simple "you can't" type of reply. Overall, the cost is not bad for what you get with this module but there are certainly other modules out there that are all around better (quality, features, price, support, etc.) than this one. I have switched and now I use other modules for both my photo and video management and I can tell you that I'm much happier now. I will refrain from listing any other competitors though.

I don't quite remember which time(s) I asked why you wish to do X, I might ask for further details about your issue because I'm not exactly sure what you wish to do, but normally I don't ask why you wish to do that. If you can show me where we do response in this way, it will help us to promote our further supports. Yes, I do remember some times I ask "Does it(a UMG feature) work for you?", I just wish to remember you there is such a feature in UMG and if it can be used to accomplish your goal. However, if it doesn't work, I'll always try to give you other suggestions.

Some people seem to like this module, not sure why. Its unstable, requires special permissions (which the author has yet to share with me) and support, man the just dont come any ruder or more arrogant. Also, if you have issues and think you might get a refund, forget about it. I gave him host login, he still couldnt get it to work, blamed it on the skin. I put several other modules in the skin, all worked fine. Avoid this module and UVG like the plague.

This review is a bit unusual. I am currently uninstalling this module since after purchasing, installing and configuring it, I realized it does not fit my needs. Although I have decided against using the product, I do give the highest mark to UMG for two reasons, one the person supporting it is incredibly helpful and insightful! Second, he started the refund process with no arguments, debates or hardships. His helpful replies to my questions were quick and helpful and once he realized I was being honest with my needs we came to an amicable conclusion. What are my needs which UMG does not fit the bill? 1-unable to keep pictures under leaf nodes/album, UMG needs to keep ALL pictures in child nodes only 2-Flash interface only for the most part, there is an html component but only for "top pics", this has ramifications if you have a large volume of pictures to manage, work around exists (ex multiple albums) but again hard to manage with a large number of pictures 3-Flash at this

I have been using UMG for 3 years and I still consider it ABSOLUTELY one of the best modules I have ever bought and used! I started using UMG 3.0.8 and I have enjoyed every upgrade along the way. Easy setup and configuration. Lots of options. I especially like being able to use existing images already on the site. In my experience, I have always received great response from the developer, and the install and upgrades have gone flawlessly. (I suppose it’s due to having a stable, up to date DNN install.) But don’t take my word for it, get the demo and try it for yourself.

This module is well written but lacks some very basic settings for end-users. We purchased this module to allow our staff to upload and display pictures on our Intranet, but it is not very intuitive. There are almost too many options that are unnecessary and not enough basic functions. Also, do not purchase the presentation package if you intend to use albums as they do not support albums and will combine all you images into a single album...still not sure why this would even be usable without preserving the individual albums. I would suggest that the developer have a trial of UMG5 available for download.

This video player is a really nice addition to our pages. I chose the pre-upload converter/uploader utility and it worked very easily even for a large video file. This vendor is absolutely great about helping with questions that came up. One feature that I really like is the abilty to view a video in full screen mode. Nice product but when I showed vendor my receipt for product and asked for serial number vendor said serial number is invalid even thought I have a receipt with that exact serial number AS VALID on the receipt So even though I have a valid receipt vendor went in AFTER THE SALE and manually deleted the serial number which now means I paid for a product which stopped working for several days and vendor refused to admit he made a terrible mistake and FIX IT by issue the required new UMG 5 serial number the receipt said I should be entitled to. To my shock this same vendor went in behind my back and then BREACHED BY WEBSITE security by calling up my hosting company and made modifications to my website without my written permission to do so. A crime. Also, very unethical to mess around with other peoples website permissions (NTFS or Database in nature) if you don't have their permission to do such as thing. So if you like UNETHICAL VENDORS BizModules.net can certainly give you exactly what you want in that regard.

This modules works great and as expected. Support is VERY good. I am giving a rating of 5 assuming that BizModules is going to continue its quality of support and will address soon the two issues I have with the product: 1 - Get more flexibility on to control permission on image upload and download. Right now its a all or nothing. 2 - Would like to see the pictures review/rating outside the flash player like for the Ultra Vedeo Gallery.

What an excellent module. Its easy to use, cleverly abstracted, the importer module saves lots of time. I had some install concerns but these where answered quickly. The manual is reasonable and better than many. Best and most importantly - the Client thinks its fantastic. I can see me buying an enterprise version. Very pleased !

Flawless! This module is how the modules that come with DNN should be done to start! Makes the core modules look like they were written by beginners. I tried the stock DNN Gallery module and it was horrible. UMG - has simple easy to understand navigation and settings, made installation simple and very fast! Highly recommend this product and the developer. I purchased many modules off Snowcovered. Many developers never respond to questions or support issues (unfortunate and really a roll of the dice). This developer is prompt and professional. . He has his act togehter, will an easy to use Forum on his site. Don't waste you time or money on the other Gallery modules, Buy this one!

Usually I don't do reviewing, but this time I had to. This is one great video gallery module. If you're used to Ultra Media Gallery, then you will find this great module very easy to use. You upload your video, then it would convert it to flv format automatically - very easy ! If you want to show video in your site, then I would say this is the module you're looking for.

This is a great module but I do have one small gripe. The pitch regarding Flickr integration is misleading. "Subscribe your albums directly to a Flickr rss feed, build professional galleries without uploading anything" I feel this is misleading. With RSS you are severely limited to batches of the latest images in a Flickr stream. I think it's limted to 10. Also the images come back small and cannot be downloaded. Clicking on the image sends you to Flickr. Therefore I would not buy this module in the belief that you can build 'professional' galleries against Flickr. You will be disappointed. If you want to do this then you need to start coding with the Flickr API. The FlickrNET API wrapper is the best bet. I sent Bizmodules an email regarding this issue but have not heard back. If you're reading Bizmodules. How about making your Flickr 'SUBSCRIPTION' module really a Flickr Subscription module? i.e. one that can be authenticated to read/write Flickr images. Alternatively rename it a 'Flickr RSS Feed gallery' I would be interested in any DNN module that can work with the Flickr API.

Ultra Photo Gallery Stands tall above the competition in several regards. First; Customer Service is Open and listen to YOU the customer. Second; There product is VERY flexible. I set gallery up similar to a flash slide show with no menus or any interface. If you wish you can give your customers complete control and allow reviewing the photos. This is my favorite module for the DNN portal. The professional look, number of features, creativity, and the ability to give your visitors/users the ability to "own" their own album(s) makes this a fantastic addition to any portal. My favorite feature is the ability to sync a hold set of images that are FTP'd to a folder on your website. The developer is very professional and is always soliciting feedback, making the module better each time!

UPG 2.5.3 Rocks! Invest your money because it is worth it. I've purchased and/or demo'd several and Rogers latest incarnation is the cat's meow! I (and many others, I'm sure) asked for several enhancements and he's come thru with them all. You'll especially love the module's ability to automatically resize your photos. Upgrade was a breeze. No errors... I did have to go into the Gallery settings 1 time and click Update for all of the albums to re-align themselves. I also recommend you load the default settings when you are there. Overall, the enhancements are great! It has made an excellent product even better. The pop-up is one feature I didn't really notice in some of the articles of advertising. Basically, it gives you the html to insert into a text/html module that is a pop-up (new window from your portal without the Browser nav bars and menus) for the gallery of your choice. Can't wait to use some of the other features added!

This is module is great. You can tell the developer spent a great deal of time in design and then in development. It is fast, flexible and the developer was very quick to answer a question that I posted in the forum. This module has a lot of potential uses. I am using it as a way to display all the listings that a realtor has so the viewer can simply look at all the property photos for any or all the listings available. I especially like the way you can set all the colors.

Very nice looking gallery. Approval process works well for moderating user submitted photos. All of my users really like having their photos displayed in this gallery and as a result are regularly submitting new photos. There are a few features we'd like to see, but the author has been very responsive and appears to be working very hard to continue evolving the product.

This is a terrific module for anyone who needs to "secure" modules from client portals. It works as advertised, it's easy to setup and the support has been terrific. We originally planned to "roll our own" and when we saw this module our development team felt it was better than our own design. We bought the source version so we could add in our own code and when we had some small problems getting it to work in our environment BizModules was terrific to work with. We emailed code back and forth and they worked with us to come up with a solution. Some of the best DNN module source support we've received. I highly recommend it to anyone who needs this functionality.

Adding this photo gallery presentation module to the website will make even below average photographer looks like pro. And because images are displayed via the flash plugin it strenthen protection of images (cannot easily copy) plus you may generate watermarks dynamically (without doing it in photoshop). 10 of 10! I have worked with web development since 96 and with various portal system including my own. The concept of having modules/plugin/webparts is a great way to show the potential of a portal, without them the portal is nothing to a user. So when I came over this module and tested it even I had to admit that this was a great module. With bulk upload, automatic resize and moderation functions this is the best looking gallery.The potential for this module is huge and I am looking forward to work with new releases as they arrive. Another thing that impresses me is the great service this developer is giving. The code is written neatly so a plus for that as well :) If you need a gallery, buy this one!

This is an excellent portfolio/album module which works exactly as advertised. I have been looking for a Gallery Module for some time now that has a clean interface, extensive flexability and quite frankly, displays photos in an orderly and manageable way. Pictures are worth a thousand words. This module is simple to use and definitely worth it. IP Address lookup requires importing data into SQL but it was not difficult. Support is excellent and the author is very open to suggestions.
