Live Blog is the ultimate blogging module for DotNetNuke. It has all the essential blogging features in addition to multi-author support, advanced comment system, flexible feeds generator, search engine optimized, and integration with many services such as Twitter, Disqus, Akismet, Google ReCaptcha, Feedsburner, Live Writer and much more...
User Experience
It’s quick to install Live Blog and even easier to manage. Like all other Mandeeps modules, Live Blog provides a consistent User Experience by focusing on UI/UX and Usability patterns.
Basic Features
Live Blog has all the essential blogging features such as Authors, Categories, Tags Cloud, Archives, Calendar and Search. Just drop the module on a page and the blog is ready to go or use our Live Blog Widget module for custom layout.
Live Blog Widget allows you to show one or many widgets in any view order separately from the Live Blog module. Includes Recent Posts, Featured Posts, Popular Posts, & Recent Comments widgets in addition to all basic widgets.
Twitter Integration
Automatically tweets new posts and/or updates with seamless Twitter integration. Post URL is automatically shortened (using Bit.ly integration) and appended to each tweet.

- Ping Services
Whenever a post is published or updated, automatically updates different search engines indicating your blog has been updated
- Trackbacks & Pingbacks
All outgoing links from the posts is tracked and pinged back so your blog will get listed in the comments on the linked website if it supports it.
- Syntax Highlighter
Live Blog integrates with Syntax Highlighter which allows you to quickly format and highlight any code samples in your blog. It has support for dozens of programming languages and several themes
Comments System
Live Blog seamlessly integrates with Disqus Comments Platform. See http://www.disqus.com for more information. Optionally generates an XML file to import your existing comments in Disqus.
Live Blog also includes its own powerful comments platform which includes following features:
- Support for Comments Moderation
- Support for Nested Comments – ability to comment on (reply to) other comments.
- Automatic Gravatar Integration
- Notification Services - ability to notify users of new comments via email

RSS Feeds / Syndication
Live Blog includes a powerful syndication platform. Besides the main Live Blog module feed, it can generate RSS Feeds on categories, authors, tags, archives and calendar. Optionally change the RSS output by passing a filter query paramter.
Live Blog also supports alternate feed url for the main feed and individual authors feed. This allows you to integrate Live Blog with other services such as Google’s Feedburner (See: http://feedburner.google.com)
Dashboard
At a quick glance, dashboard allows you to see the both published and draft posts, categories, tags, and comments pending approval.
Hierarchical Categories
Support for unlimited hierarchical categories. A single blog post can be associated with many categories; however, every blog post must have at least one category.
Multiple Author Support
It’s easy to extend blogging privileges to others. In addition to default “View” & “Edit” permissions, Live Blog has “Authors” permission which can be assigned to any number of security roles and/or users.
Every author has its own dashboard and manages its own set of posts, tags, and categories. Cross posting to other categories are allowed.
An administrator can always view and modify other author’s content.
Remote Publishing via XML-RPC Interface
Live Blog supports an extended version of MetaWeblog API so you can easily use Live Writer (See: http://explore.live.com/windows-live-writer) and other such client programs to manage your posts.
Live Blog includes “Remote Authors” permission which can be assigned to any number of security roles and/or users. Any user with “Remote Authors” permission can connect to Live Blog using a MetaWeblog client such as Live Writer.
Some of the features supported by Live Writer include:
- Ability to publish posts immediately or at future date
- Ability to save draft posts remotely
- Ability to create new categories
- Ability to specify a custom slug
- Automatically synchronizes existing tags on your blog and auto completes them.
Search Engine Optimized
- Generates blog posts URL Sitemap for submission to search engines.
- Friendly URLs for each Blog Post (Integrates with your Friendly URL Provider)
- Friendly URLs for Authors, Categories, Tags, Archives, and Calendar
- Support for Custom Slug (Ability to customize the post URL with human-readable keywords)
- Each post has its own title, meta description and keywords
- Optionally show Blog Name in post title
Customization
- Completely template driven so you can easily customize with basic HTML & CSS knowledge
- Ability to create your own themes
- Ability to turn on/off theme/template features (such as Archives, Calendar, Tags Cloud, etc…) from options without any edits to theme/template itself.
Social Networking Icons
Optional: Ability to show any number of social networking icons on your blog posts to encourage sharing. Show individual icons from Facebook, Twitter, and Linked In or integrate with services such as www.addthis.com and www.sharethis.com to show myriad of social networking options.
Search
Live Blog includes an asynchronous (AJAX) based Search Widget that quickly searches blog posts and instantaneously returns the results without a page refresh or postback.
DotNetNuke Searchable (iSearchable)
Optionally, all your blog posts will be indexed by DotNetNuke Search.
Fully Localized
All Backend and Frontend static texts are localized.
