• Q: Can I define different Categories and Locations at the Module level rather than the Portal level? I need to have very different Categories and Locations for each different Events module on the same portal.

• Q: We have a site with a very extensive default calendar of events. When switching to this calendar, can the current events be brought into this calendar automatically or through some routine?

• Q: Hi the satellite module is having a strange behavior: 1. When the site gets updated (i.e. content gets added to the page) the “Items” Template of the satellite gets “Deleted” and no events are shown Do you have any idea why is this happening? Any suggestions? I have had to add the template at leat 5 times already. You can view the site at bexarmet.org satellite is on home page it should be displaying events now I just added the template.   A: Hi, Which version are you running? Are there any error log from Admin >> Event Viewer? The module is not supposed to delete the template by itself. Also, please use online forum to follow up on technical support. :)

  A: It will do that automatically. However, you have a way to walkaround. The Calendar can accept page parameter: "cat", for example: http://www.abc.com/default.aspx?cat=3, so in your menu, you can have the redirection to the page with specific category id.

• Q: Can this module be used for booking homes or rooms like a hotel? I need to build a house rental website and allow people to book a property for a day or multiple days with pricing that can be changed for multiple booking days.

  A: Hi, The calendar display size can be changed with CSS, it is fully depending on CSS you used.

• Q: Hi, I am testing the trial before purchasing. The emails aren't being sent out -- is this only for licensed versions? Also, when I click "offline payment" the users aren't being shown in the "Registration Manager". Does this also only work in the registered version? Is there a way to make the Event Title non clickable? Is there a helper mod that can be displayed on the page that I can choose an image and take them right to the registration page? Thanks.

  A: Hi, Trial version comes with full functionality. Please check your Admin >> Event Viewer, any error on email sending? Also go to Manage Email Notifications, see if you have email templates configured. No, the registration manager event title is always clickable. Any reason you don't want it to be clicable.? • Q: I have a couple pre-sale questions. 1) Do the unlimited custom fields apply on an event by event basis. I have events that have completely different information that is required to be collected and I need the flexibility to customize those fields on an event by event basis. 2) Does the system allow the ability to send notification to multiple email addresses on a per event basis when someone registers for an event?   A: Hi, 1), The custom fields are not linked to per event basis. Rather, it is linked to per Module basis. All you need to do is to have different modules added to your portal, each module for one type of events (having same custom fields). 2), Yes.

• Q: Hi, I'm looking at purchasing this module again for a client. I'm confused by what the following means. - Event Calendar & Registration - Standard License (Not for multi IP address Environment) Does this mean that only one computer IP address is allowed to make updates, or can multiple computers make updates to the modules as long as it is on one IP server install. If you could provide a little more insight to the difference between the $300+ license and the regular standard license so I can pass the news on to the client. Thanks!

  A: Hi, Standard Edition is for one single DNN install only, and it does not work in Load Balancing/Clustering/Multiple IP address on the web server environment. (Having different IP for different portals in same DNN install). Whereas Enterprise edition allows multiple install. and support ALL environments. :)

• Q: Hi there, Please answer each question seperatly: (1) is it possible to change the fields in the room registration form? (2) Can you extend it to include the following search form fields: date from, date to? (3) Can you just make it limited 1 booking? Cause we are not booking events, but a tour guide in a given state. So if there is only 1 tour guide for that state, once his time is booked for a week, that week should not be bookable again. Will it handle this? (4) Can we switch to Facility Booking view mode to display what days are booked? If not, how do you present this to the user? Thanks, Tony.   A: Ok, 1) Yes. 2), you can use the Events Calendar Search module, and it provides many searching criteria. 3), Yes. 4), You can link it with Facility Booking. but the FB module does not show booking status of your events. Thanks.

• Q: I want to be able to display the names of people already registered on the event detail page. Is that possible?

  A: Yes. you can use Tokens to do so. Please refer to the Tokens reference.

• Q: I want to use this module to allow club members to book tennis courts. I will have an event set up for each time slot, and there will be 3 places available as we have 3 courts. The booking will be 'released' at a given time, and we anticipate a lot of people trying to book at the same time. We are charging for the bookings as well through PayPal, and I wanted to to understand at what point the booking shows up as 'complete'. Is it when they go off to PayPal, or when the PayPal transaction is completed? If it is the latter, I am concerned that people will think they have a court booked, but somebody else may complete the PayPal transaction before them.

• Q: Hello, i purchased your module about a month ago and love it! i have a quick question for you. Is there any way to display the category in the url and category ID. I create a bunch of groups and what to pass a category ID in the url so when they get to the calendar page it filters down to just those events. like /Events/tabid/108/vw/category/3/Default.aspx Thanks Tim

  A: Yes, the parameter is "cat". For example: /tabid/108/vw/2/cat/1/Default.aspx

• Q: I recently ran skipfish a security scanning utility, against an application that was using your events module, one of the findings of the scan was an integer overflow vector attack that was successful. Skipfish claims this is a high priority vulnerability, my understanding is a little different. The overflow is caught and handled an exception is returned, the biggest problem is that it's not a generic error returned, but rather explicit about the problem that has occurred. We typically like our returned exceptions to be generic so as not to tip off those trying to attack the system.   A: Hi, As you mentioned, the error would be captured, logged, and returned to the normal page and displayed with the error message. Actually the process was done automatically by DotnetNuke error handling engine. Yes, we need to prevent such attackers, but I believe whether display the error message or not do not make much difference in this concept. • Q: I own a few domain names like www.SkylineDriveCorvettes.Org, www.FastVette.Net, www.CorvetteNation.org I would like SkylineDrive Corvettes to be an individual calendar, FastVette.Net to be an individual calendar, and CorvetteNation.Org to be a 'master' calendar that will include all "public" items from the sub-calendars. The current problem is that Corvette clubs have events for members-only, as well as events that non-members may participate in. The sub-calendars need a checkbox to "publish on other websites" for the public events. ALL three of these domains are Parent Portals in the same DNN SQL database.... and the 'master' needs to include all 'public' listings in date order. BarryZ Reading PA

  A: Hi, currently the module v4.0 does not cater to cross portal sharing of calendars. It supports sub-calendars within the same portal though. For your case, you may want to have a IFrame to display calendars page from another website.

• Q: i have a link on my homepage to certain hot items going on in my site. one such item is an event i have set up in the calandar. how can i link to a detailed informative view of the event i set up in the calandar? i would not liek to send users to the main calandar as they would see all events and not the one i want to highlight. i want them going directly to a detailed view of the exact event and see all its details. ,Thanks

• Q: We are a sales training company. We offer public seminars and have been using other online scheduling tools. Is there a way for a manager of one of our client companies to register four people for an event and pay for all four people in a single transactions and then provide them a place to enter each person's name? This is a huge need we have. In addition, if we are using this module on multiple sites we own on the same server which version do we need to purchase?

• Q: Trying to woo a non-profit away from Evite and towards using their DNN site for event registration. But they are used to Evites' one-click. Using DNN Core Event module + email notification, they had to click link in email, log in to DNN site, go to Event page, register. 95% didn't do it. 'Too many clicks' they said. Using Invenmanager, whats the shortest path/least clicks to registering? [They will not log in. Evite assumes the sender verified them when the email list was created. Cant I do that in DNN?]

It will be in a dev environment and then moved to a production server, where the client will then start updating it. Can we purchase the $139 module "Event Calendar & Registration - Standard License (Not for multi IP address Environment)"? I'm not sure what this license means. Would we be better off with version 3?

  A: Hi, The licensing is same for v4.0 and 3.x. As for Standard Edition, it only allows you to activate on production site. It allows unlimited dev environment on localhost which does not require activation of license. If you need to activate on more than one environment, you need enterprise edition or multiple licenses. • Q: I just purchased a copy of your Events 3.1 module a month or so ago for one of my clients and I'm in the process of getting it configured for them when I noticed you have a new version out. I presume you provide free upgrades to new clients for 12 months after purchase as is becoming the standard throughout the DNN module community. We haven't even launched their site yet and so I'm confident they're not going to be willing to spend more money on an update to a product they just purchased and haven't gotten online yet. • Q: Do you support the notion of configuring events to fall off the calendar after the event has passed?

• Q: I assume that the registration info you require them to fill out is configurable, is that correct? For instance we'd need to add fields for College, GPA, graduation date, etc. Also can you add radio buttons and drop down lists?
